Above all else, it is our desire to keep our players and their families safe throughout this pandemic. With the numbers of cases rising and the continued uncertainty surrounding the situation, we thought it would be important to send you the protocol we will be using to handle COVID within our club. Before I get to that, I want to make sure I thank all the families who have been affected by the virus for being open, honest, and diligent in their handling of notifying the club, the other players who were or were potentially exposed and for playing it safe in regards to returning to the gym or staying home. It is obvious that our Red Storm family is indeed looking after each other as we would expect.
We will update these guidelines as the CDC and State of Louisiana continue to change them.
1) If you test positive for COVID:
Notify Donna Pixley and/or Holly Tupper immediately by e-mail, text or phone call. We will then notify the team or teams that you may have come in contact with over the course of practice.
Stay at home for 10 days after the onset of symptoms or a positive test if you are not experiencing symptoms.
You may return to practice once the 10 day quarantine has ended AND you are symptom free AND you have been fever-free for 24 hours without taking fever reducing medications such as Tylenol.
Some symptoms such as loss of taste and smell, headaches and fatigue may linger for weeks or even months and do not require longer quarantine times.
2) If someone in your family or with whom you live tests positive and you are negative:
Notify Donna Pixley and/or Holly Tupper immediately.
Stay at home for 10 days and monitor your symptoms for up to 14 days.
If you remain symptom free for 10 days, you may return to practice.
A negative test before returning is not mandatory but would be helpful and appreciated.
3) If your teammate tests positive:
Donna or Holly will notify the team or teams of the exposure.
If you were in close contact with your team for longer than 15 minutes (which will likely always be the case), we will ask your teammates to stay home for at least 48 hours to monitor symptoms. If after 48 hours, teammates are symptom free, they may return to practice but must wear a face covering before, during and after practice until they have left the building for a 10 day period after exposure.
ALL PLAYERS -
1) must be temp checked upon arrival to the gym;
2) must wear a mask when entering and exiting the facility;
3) must use hand sanitizer or wash hands as frequently as possible;
4) during practice and play, masks are optional UNLESS you have been exposed by a teammate in which case after being symptom free for 48 hours, you must wear a mask to practice for a 10 day period following exposure.
PARENTS:
You must remain outside the facility during practices. We are trying to keep the numbers in the gym down and reduce the chances of possible exposure at our facility. If you absolutely have to enter the facility, you must wear a face mask at all times while inside.
Obviously, we cannot guarantee that there will be no risk of exposure at our facility just as there isn't when you go to the grocery store or school, or a restaurant, but if we all work together, we can hope to reduce our risk significantly. I trust that we are all wanting to have a great season and will do whatever is necessary to make sure that happens on our end.
